A legacy of giving. A commitment to find a cure.

The Masonic Cancer Center Fund is part of a strong legacy of cancer research support from the Masons and Order of the Eastern Star of Minnesota which began with a $1 million gift to build the Masonic Memorial Hospital. The hospital located at the University of Minnesota admitted its first patient in 1958 and still operates today as a cancer clinic and general research building.

Over the years, Minnesota Masons and members of the Order of the Eastern Star generously provided $35 million to support cancer research and patient care, including a $10 million pledge to build a new state-of-the-art cancer clinic.  

A $65 Million Pledge for Cancer Research
In April 2008, Minnesota Masonic Charities, on behalf of the Minnesota Masonic family, presented the University of Minnesota with an extraordinary gift of $65 million – the largest gift ever made to the University – to seek the cure for cancer.
